Hello!

Hello friends, new and old.  I thank you for visiting our site and getting to know Three Treasures on a deeper level.  As you can imagine, this organization has great meaning for me on  a variety of levels. We mean different things to different people and my hope is that Three Treasures helps you move you along in your personal journey.

Three Treasures  was born out of my many interests and different skill sets. But the common thread through it all is my desire to help others along in their journey through life. I am a conduit for those around me to become aware of their potential and ultimately it is up to them if they wish to act on it. I have to come grips that people either love Three Treasures or hate us. I am straight forward with my words and actions and I live by the Kung Fu code of ethics. For this, I am a mirror that reflects your strengths and weaknesses right back at you. Those who  have quit Three Treasures all did so  because they were challenged to be better and rather than work on themselves, they chose to leave. Those who stay at Three Treasures taste incredible personal growth and as a result professional growth.

I have trained martial arts since 1990 but its influence dates back to the early 80's from my own family and  watching old Shaw Brothers movies. I mean, who hasn't? I have had some really awful Kung Fu teachers who laid the foundation for me to know what to NOT do. I thank them for helping me be more aware of what is important to me and how I want to share Kung Fu with the world.

Lifestyle, Not An Activity

I take my role as Sifu seriously and all my decisions are based on what I feel a good Sifu would do. That coupled with being a Buddhist, I subscribe  to the belief that all our lives are intertwined and what we do or say affects others now and tomorrow. Since I know all eyes are on me (sorry, Tupac)  I am the best role model I can be on and off the "job". I do not engage in activities that build up karmic debt or compromise our values. I consider mistakes and bad choices to be  two different types of results. Mistakes are minor and easily forgiven (forgetting where you put your car keys or getting the time wrong for a meeting) but poor choices require both pre-meditated thought and ignorance of common sense and training (bullying, discriminating against others, or not controlling your ego.)

Three Treasures is all about the mind, body, and spirit and a daily reminder that we must work on all 3 together. Everyday we see instances of professional athletes doing silly things (or worse) that make the rest of us raise our eyebrows. Or how famous singers and entertainers commit suicide or have severe personal issues.  For years, these super humans have been idolized by others and never been told no to or kept under control. So success gets to their head or when their careers are over, they cannot transition to being out of the limelight. The common thread is that most people in society are not taught personal growth and the responsibility that comes with fame and fortune.  Reflective thinking is certainly not something you learn in school and most of us could stand to have a lesson or two in it.

If you choose to work for Three Treasures or become one of our Kung Fu students, be ready to be the best version of you. What we do is not an activity or simply a job. It is a lifestyle that takes conscious effort to cultivate.  We expect you to life a healthy lifestyle, be strong in your convictions, and be excited about helping others. There is a simple Buddhist teaching that says "Say Good Words, Do Good Deeds, and Think Good Thoughts."  I cannot imagine how much trouble I would  have been in if not for that simple piece of wisdom.

People Hate What They Are Attracted To

We receive so many job applicant inquiries and they say that our family atmosphere is what attracts them to Three Treasures. We do have a warm and inviting ambiance but it takes great effort to keep it going. While we do make it look easy, being a part of Three Treasures is not easy and definitely not for everyone. Everyone comes to their own revelation about themselves at their own time and sometimes it is just not the right time for you to be at Three Treasures.
