FILIPINO LANGUAGE and CULTURE
Three Treasures has always been blessed to have found a diverse staff that come with all sorts of skills to offer our members. The Filipino culture has always been just as important to Three Treasures as Chinese culture and it was about time to create a Filipino standalone program. This class will be lead by Jaclyn Alcala who helps run our Hage Elementary School site and will be assisted by other native speakers on our staff. The course is open enrollment which means you can enroll at the beginning of any month without feeling like you are behind.
Classes are Wednesdays 6 to 7pm and Saturdays 9 to 10 am. |
POLYNESIAN DANCE AND CULTURE
In addition to teaching dance from the different islands of Polynesia, this course will also teach history, culture, language, and musical instruments. Lead by Nash Salas who is one of Three Treasures' most trusted staff members. He runs our Crown Point Elementary site during the school year and is camp director at Camp Oliver in Descanso every summer. Mr. Nash received his Polynesian tutoring under the watchful eye of the popular Pride of Polynesia and was a finalist for the prestigious 2017 Mr. Heiva contest. His team will consist of Ms. Katereen Farol and others from Pride of Polynesia. Beginning classes will be Sundays 3 to 5pm. More classes added at no extra cost as you advance.

HIP HOP and CULTURE
Following with our emphasis on culture and dance is our new Hip Hop program lead by Therese Salazar who runs our Hip Hop department within our Youth Mentorship Program. Her success in building that class from scratch showed us she is ready to go public and you and your kids will love it. Just like the Polynesian Dance and Culture program, both parents and their kids can train together. Therese received her tutelage under the powerful and well respected Ascension team at UCSD. She has dedicated her life to this incredible art form and wants to share not only the physical moves but also the history and meaning. She wants to show the "three treasures" of mind, body, and spirit. Beginner classes are Mondays at 3pm and Fridays at 6pm.

COMPETITIVE and FAMILY CHESS
Chess and Chinese Chess have long been staples of our Youth Mentorship Program and we are excited to open this to the public as well. We are proud of our relationship with Pacific Hills Chess Academy lead by Ron Rezendes. Ron was Sifu Frank's Chess mentor way back before Three Treasures was founded. Ron was the President of the San Diego Chess Club in Balboa Park and studied under International Master Larry Evans of the famed Mountain Lake Chess club which operates at many schools within the Poway Unifed School District.
Youth Chess (ages 5 to 11) classes will be Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 to 5pm and Family Chess will be Fridays 5 to 6 (ages 12 and above). The classes will be as competitive as you can handle. You will also have the opportunity to enter Chess tournaments and seek additional training with Ron. We will also be adding a public Chinese Chess class in the spring. |
